Velcro

Clothes are usually fastened with buttons, zippers or clasps. Velcro is a famous brand for hook-and-loop fasteners. It consists of the rough surface (hook or male side) and the fluffy/ hairy surface (loop or female side) that interlocks. It is typically made of nylon and polyethylene. They can also be made of polyester hooks, Teflon loops and glass backings (used in space shuttles).

Velcro is widely known of its many benefits. It is easy and safe to use. They are easily available in almost all retail and wholesale stores in various widths and lengths. This is also being used to attach patches to flight suits of US Air Force. Its tearing noise can also be a safety feature against pickpockets.
