It consists of the rough surface (hook or male side) and the fluffy/ hairy surface (loop or female side) that interlocks. It is typically made of nylon and polyethylene. This is also being used to attach patches to flight suits of US Air Force. Its tearing noise can also be a safety feature against pickpockets.
