It is a very general word that is used interchangeably with textile or cloth. A fabric is a flexible material that is woven from a host of different materials. They can be made from hemp, cotton, linen and many others. There are also synthetic fabrics made of polyester, nylon or spandex. The enormous variety of fabrics is the result of any one or a combination of these fibers.

Textiles have a wide assortment of uses. The most common is in clothing, beddings, towels and home furnishings. For personal use, they are fashioned into bags and umbrella covers. In the household, we see them in curtains and the rugs we use on the floor. Fabrics also have industrial uses. They are used to pack certain foods such as rice and beans. We see fabrics being used anywhere we look.
