pocketbooks

Women love having bags in various sizes, colors and designs. These are typically used to hold personal items such as wallets, cosmetics, tissues, keys, hairbrush, mobile phones, PDAs, etc. The use of women’s bags was believed to have started in the 16th century when leather was fastened with a drawstring on top and large cloth bags were worn by travelers diagonally across the body.

Over the centuries, bag designs became more complex and elaborate. Luxurious small handbags or pocketbooks have become necessary accessories when wearing formal female attire. Medium-to-small-sized bags with short handles and which are designed to be carried in one’s hand has become known as clutch bags. On the other hand, a larger handbag with two handles has often been called a tote.
